WOOD/FOWLER - Seeking info on the family of David WOOD and Ruth FOWLER, who lived most of their lives in Cocke County, TN. They had fourteen children, including Joseph and Jeptha WOOD. LOVE/LEWIS - Interested in obtaining info on my ancestors who came from Sevier Co. I would like to know more about Mordecai LEWIS, who was a justice of the court in 1796, and any of his forbears. HENRY -I'm researching HENRY family history and need info about David HENRY and wife Martha Ann Spicer HENRY of Sevierville, TN. David was b. Feb. 1846, the son of Alford HENRY of Sevier Co. ...Martha Spicer HENRY was born ca. 1851 TN and died 1880-1900. She and David had 3 sons: Douglas H. HENRY b. ca. 1871; Joel H. HENRY, b. ca. 1875; and William HENRY, b. ca. 1879. They are on the 1880 Sevier Co. Census..... On the 1900 census of Sevier Co., David HENRY was age 54, and Alford HENRY was age 84, both enumerated in the household of Holloway Baxter. CLARK/PAYNE - Seeking info on/and descendants of Cleopatra A. CLARK, (also known as Clee). He was b. in TN in Dec of 1856, and he is found living with his mother Angeline CLARK b. in TN between 1829-1830. No other CLARK family was listed. Her occupation was listed as a seamstress and the listing in the census following their names listed people in the Poor House. I have nothing further on Angeline. Clee m. Martha ( I or E ) PAYNE on June 8, 1879 in Sevier Co. Martha was b. in GA in Dec. of 1862. Per the census, her father was b. in IN and her mother in NC. I know nothing else of her parents. Clee and Martha lived in Sevier Co. at least through 1901 and I have no record of either past June of 1901 per a county land deed.

They had eight children: Newton CLARK, b. May 1880 and d. before 1900: James L.(L could stand for Lawson) CLARK, b. Jan 1882; Jane (nickname could be "Dicie") CLARK, b. Feb. 1884; Emma C b. Oct 1886; Angelina C. "Delia" CLARK, b. July 1890. She m.1 Hudson DeLozier Sept 26, 1906, Claiborne Co. TN; Fuller Lewis CLARK b. July 17, 1894 , d. August 13, 1972. He married Dona Williams January 18, 1913 Claiborne Co. TN. Dona was b. March 10, 1896, Union Co. TN, d. November 25, 1942.

They had nine children: Ch. of Fuller Lewis CLARK and Dona Williams CLARK: Homer Edward CLARK; James Fred CLARK; Marie CLARK Greer; Edith CLARK Massangale; Ruby CLARK Hill: Ruth CLARK Greer: Opal CLARK Powell; Fuller Lewis CLARK, Jr.; Lawson Clee "L." McMAHAN - Johnnie McMAHAN was a black man who lived at the Mitchell Hotel in downtown Sevierville, where he worked for Aunt Maryann Mitchell. He was well-known for his "buck dancing". MITCHELL/DUGGAN/COPPINGER - Need proof that David MITCHELL (b. July 1832) is the son of John MITCHELL and Elizabeth COPPINGER. David (age 17) is listed on the 1850 Sevier Co. census (Fair Garden district) along with John and Elizabeth MITCHELL. John died between 1850 and 1855. I would like his exact date of death and a copy of a will, if available. Also would like info on John's parents and where he was from prior to coming to Sevier Co. Elizabeth was the dau. of Revolutionary War soldier Higgins COPPINGER. David married Minerva DUGGAN, dau. of Daniel DUGGAN and Mary McMahan. Thank you for any info. BROWN - Searching for Jerdan "Elder" Edmond BROWN b.1795. Married Pelona, a Cherokee Indian princess. Had three sons: Peter Ramson b.1815, Obe Silas and Calloway. Jordan is buried in a maintained grave at Cage Cove. He was an Elder and Primative Baptist preacher. Peter married Polly Martha Chandler 12-05-1843. Her dob 5-25-1816 . d.12-29-1897. DAVIS - According to C. E. W. DAVIS, who wrote a family history in 1892, Clinton Co. KY, removed from Sevier Co. TN in 1797. John DAVIS was reportedly one of the signers of the Watauga Petition. Robert and John DAVIS were both born in Augusta Co. VA, sons of John DAVIS and Jemima (Jefferson) Collins. STOFLE/STOFFLE - Seeking info on Samuel Henry STOFLE/STOFFLE, b. Oct. 18, 1865 in TN. He was in Marion Co. TN in 1900 with his wife Barbara, age 37, and his children: Lillie, 15; Henry, 11; Oscar, 6; and Walter, 1. Who was Barbara before marriage, and who were her parents? Where were Sam and Barbara married? Samuel's parents were Thomas and Delilah STOFLE. What was Delilah's maiden name and where was she from? I found them in Sevier County in 1880. Bert d. on March 5, 1916, in Knoxville and she subsequently remarried a man whose last name was TALLEY. Bert and Ella had four ch.: Ethel, Floyd, Clyde and Bert Walter, Jr. Ella d. March 25, 1933 in Knoxville and is buried in the Greenwood Cemetery next to Bert. Any info on the SELLERS and MURPHY families from the general area would be most appreciated. BAXTER/WASHBURN - Trying to find my great grandfather, John BAXTER, and wife Elizabeth Carver BAXTER, who were married in Cosby, TN. They had five sons: Sanders, Haloway, Thomas, Robert and William Alexander, and one daughter, Rosis. Elizabeth was John's third wife. He had two children by his first wife, and a son John who I think died, by his second wife. John was 63 in 1880 census and Sanders (my grandfather) was 18. John sold land in TN in 1878, and 1882, and that is the last record we have of him or his wife and children, except Sanders, who went to NC and met Sallie WASHBURN, his wife-to-be. (marriage license says Sarah WASHBURN). They walked to Slabtown, TN, and were married on December 24, 1884 by Charlie Goodenough. They lived for over a year in either NC or TN and took a train in Hot Springs, NC and moved to TX, Hill County. They never saw their families again. They wrote, but my father never knew where his grandfather came from. If anyone can help me find what happened to John and Elizabeth, it would end a search that I have undertaken since 1963. KEEBLE - William KEEBLE, whose middle name we think was McDonald, was a Revolutionary War veteran who moved to Blount County in 1800. He was born May 21, 1755 in VA and died in Blount Co., TN Dec. 30, 1834. William had four children by his first wife. He had at least eleven children by second wife. I am a descendant of the first child by this wife. Does anyone know why William was given the McDonald or MacDonald name? In 1786 William was involved in a lawsuit in Fauquier Co.
