CAGLE - My grandfather, Joseph CAGLE, was born 22 April, 1894, in Cocke County, TN. He died April, 1995. Had he lived twenty one more days he would have been 101. We know little about the family other than what little we learned from him. His father was Jessie CAGLE, and his grandfather was George. My grandmother was Lura LUNSFORD from Cocke County. EVANS - Seeking info on parents/ancestors of James Madison EVANS b. February 14, 1815; m. Susannah TIPTON February 12, 1835 Blount County. A son, John Cowan EVANS, was featured in an article in the Autumn 1995 issue of the JOURNAL stating his father was James Madison EVANS who had been born and raised in TN. Other Children were William Tipton, James Sevier, Bradford Huston, Martha Elizabeth, and Samuel. I would like to correspond with anyone researching the EVANS family. Marlene Scott, 4957 Decatur Hwy. PIERCEFIELD - Any info on Peter PIERCEFIELD who was killed by Indians in Wears Cove, Sevier Co. in 1793 will be greatly appreciated. Also, who was Henry PURSIFULL b. 1794? Keith Pursifull, RR#1, Box 421, Redkey, IN 47373.

WEBB - Am doing genealogy on WEBB family which seemed to move back and forth between TN & NC. I have plenty of info to share on WEBB & related families after they settled in Yancey Co. NC after 1850. My g/grandfather was Jasper WEBB b. 1829 TN. Father may be Eli. In 1880 Soundex Cards from Cocke Co. Jasper and Eli appear at the right time to be descendants of the previous. BRICKEY/DOBKINS/BREWER - Need date of marriage of Wm. BRICKEY & Eleanor DOBKINS, and name of her parents & siblings. May have m. around 1803, as 1 child b. 1805. Were all Cocke Co. records destroyed in court house fire? When did Wm's p. John & Jane Scott BRICKEY come to TN? Also when did James & Betsy BREWER & ch. Arrive in TN? GILL/EXUM - Seek family histoiry of Thomas Jefferson GILL b. Oct.,1834 NC. Md Malissa (Melissa) M. EXUM b. 1840 Smith Co. TN. He/fmy reportedly moved from NC to TN-suspect anywhere from late 1830's to 1850's. He is in 1860 TN census which lists NC as state of birth, unable to find him in 1850 census. GRIFFITH/FORD - Looking for desc. Of Mary Ford GRIFFITH, b. Jan 30, 1846 Cocke Co. TN and John Ervin GRIFFITH b. Sept 1835, Buncombe Co. NC. m Sept 1866 near Ocoee, TN. John d. Oct 1, 1906 at Old Fort, TN. Lived next door to my gg/grandfather , John M. GRIFFITH in Gilmer Co, GA in 1850. How related? Any info greatly appreciated. SEATON - Am seeking the exact location of the tombstone of Philip SEATON, 25 Dec. 1800, - July, 1875 and his wife, Mary (Barnhart) 9 Aug 1801 - Feb 1881 in Shiloh Cenetary, Sevierville, TN, and the location of the family bible of Thaddeus D. COLLINS/ALLEN - I would like to hear from family of George ALLEN who married Kathy HENRY. Their daughter, Sarah m. John COLLINS, son of Neverson COLLINS. (Bible records say Everson). CHILDERS - Trying to trace an ancestor, Josiah CHILDERS, Sr. b.ca. 1777 probably in VA. He m. Martha Susannah WOODRUM, date and place unknown, b. ca.1767. The furthest back we can get is to Sevier Co. Will quote article from the Knoxville Register of Jan. 16, 1821 (Vol.15, p.234):

"By virtue of an order of sale directed from the Sevier County Court, I will expose to sale in Sevierville on the 3rd March next, all the right that Josiah Childer's has in 93 ¾ acres. The property adjoins the lands of James Pearces and others. Also for sale, is 45 ½ acres taken as the,property of William Hendrick as security for said Childers. The property was taken to satisfy a judgment obtained by John Shields."

In the Knoxville Register of Feb. 12, 1822, regarding another public sale. "Execution obtained in favor of Isiah Childers, William Mitchell Sheriff." Could this be Josiah (spelled several ways in other documents) or a relative? He may have been in Sevier County to 1830, then to Blount, McMinn and Polk counties till the family left for Arkansas in 1851. Any help appreciated. Linda Childers, 7891 Marten Rd. Neosho, MO 64850.

CARNES - Seeking info on Hubbard CARNES, b. March 8, 1797 in VA, maybe Greenbriar County. He was by trade a miller. Wife was Dicy Robertson b. Dec 2, 1800, SC. CORN/KEELER/CARROLL - My mother-in-law, Annie Greer CARROL, was b. in Sevier Co. She m. Frank CORN of Newport, TN. They had a son, Ernest Eugene CORN who was b. in TN (was m. to him) They moved to Hereford, TX where four more children were born. Annie's stepfather was a KEELER , who had two sons in WWI. RINEHART/RHINEHART - I have done extensive research on the RINEHARTs (& collateral lines) of Jefferson County. Questions remain (Much like those in Chestnut Hill): 1. DEAN/ROMINES/WRINKLE - My g-g grandfather was William Riley ROMINES, b. in E.TN. Parents had large livestock farm. May have had younger brother, Joseph. The parents died while they were young and relatives took them in. Wm.R. ROMINES. was b. about 1848. He m. Harriet E.J. WRINKLE on 6 June, 1869 in Bradley County. KIRKLAND - I have info on John Jackson KIRKLAND and James KIRKLAND, but have no birth or death dates of either. John had a son also named John. James had a daughter named Naomi (Oma in the census). It appears they were first cousins, and I believe they were related to Nathan KIRKLAND who lived around the late 1700's. They lived in Monroe County TN and Bryson City, NC areas.
