COTTER - I am looking for any COTTER in Sevier County, especially anyone related to Jesse James COTTER, born 28 December 1832 and died 21 April 1912 in Junction, Kimble County, Texas. JJ married Lucretia Howell 5 Febrary 1854 in Washington County, TN. They had two children together. I am most interested in JJ's parents. Please respond as soon as possible. CLINTON - I am trying to sort through all of the known CLINTON's in Sevier County to determine the names of my great grandmother and great grandfather--both died prior to 1900. I understand that there may have been a lady named Rhoule or Rough from Florida that wrote a book on the CLINTON's of Sevier County. Is anyone familiar with this book? Does anyone know how I might contact this person? I am willing to share any and all of the information that I have on the CLINTON's--primarily Calvin CLINTON. DELOZIER - I am trying to document some of my family history. I know that my DELOZIER ancestors moved from Virginia to Roane County, TN. I can document them in Henry County, VA in 1784 and in Roane County in 1803. I have information that they moved first to Sevier County, TN and then on to Roane County. NOLAND - I am seeking any information I can get about my great, great grandmother, Martha Polly (Ownby) NOLAND. She was the first wife of Jefferson Reed NOLAND and the mother of my grandfather, Walter Lee NOLAND. He was born in 1898. She died giving birth to her second child some time before 1901. JAMES - I am seeking information on my great grandfather Daniel JAMES. He is listed in the 1870 and 1870 census. He married my great grandmother Mary Maddorn in Cocke County on 26 October 1883. ODELL - William Alexander and Caroline Matilda, parents of Samuel B., grandparents of Charles Worthington ODELL. Looking for these two in and around Sevier County, their grandson was born in Sevier County. They moved from Maryland into Tennessee before August 1852. Older siblings of Samuel include: Annie Marcella (born 1845 MD), Mary (born 1847 MD), Mariah (born 1849 MD), Evaline (born 1852 TN), William (born 1854 TN), Edwin (born 1856 TN), John (born 1859 TN), Joseph (born 1862 TN), Caroline Matilda (born 1865 TN), Emerson (born 1867 TN), then Samuel (born 1872 TN). Note: William and 7 of his children, including Annie Marcella (Cellie), Mariah, Edwin, John, Joseph, Caroline (Carrie), Emerson and Samuel were found in Knox County 1880 Census. ATKINS / ADKINS FURNITURE COMPANY - I am looking for some information about the ATKINS FURNITURE COMPANY. I realize that it is no longer in Sevierville. During the 30s/40s my grandfather and his brothers worked there building furniture. I would like to know if there is a photograph somewhere of the building. Where could I find such information? HODGE - Searching for any information on my great grandfather David N. HODGE who married Isabel Lemon in Blount County, Tennessee in 1896. BLACK / COLVILLE - Seeking the parents of John BLACK and Elizabeth COLVILLE of Frederick County, VA. John and Elizabeth's children were Jane, born 4 February 1741 and married John Vance 15 November 1759; Christian born 4 November 1745 and married Christopher Acklin; Joseph born 22 February 1747 married Jane ______before 1769; Martha; and Elizabeth born 12 December 1747, married William Blackburn, who was a lieutenant killed at the Battle of King's Mountain. Elizabeth was pregnant with her daughter Elizabeth when John died. She married Samuel Newell between October 1762 and May 1763. Joseph Black was a delegate from Blount County at the first TN Constitutional Convention in 1796. Any info on my ancestor Joseph Black's grand parents is appreciated. Gina K. HUFSTETLER - We are trying to locate the father of Adam HUFSTETLER. Adam was born in Lincoln County, NC 18 November 1788. He married Margaret (?) in Lincoln County They moved to TN in the early 1830's. We have found him in the census. By 1840 they were in the Habersham County, GA census, and in Cass County, GA in 1850. Would like the name of Adam's father and his wife Margaret's maiden name. Adam died 8 February 1863, and he is buried in the Old Salem Cemetery in Waleska, Cherokee County, GA. SPARKS - Seeking info on Thomas Andrew SPARKS, who married Rose E. (Nola) Hicks. May have wed in Blount or Knox County. He is buried in Asbury Cemetery, at the "Forks of the River" in Knox, County beside his wife Rose, and son Samuel Laymon SPARKS. Rose was the daughter of James D. Hicks and Sarah E. Wright of Blount County. She was born 3 April 1866 or 1868 in Blount County and died 26 March 1923 in TN. Their children were Pearl Leroy, Floyd, Charles Andrew, and Samuel Laymon-all boys. ORR - I read with interest one of the articles in the quarterly that mentioned a Will ORR. My g-grandfather was William Henry ORR, born about 1826, probably Jefferson County, TN, and died about 1896 in Blount County, buried Middlesettlements Cemetery in an unmarked grave. Have been trying to find exactly when he died, if he owned property, his occupation, etc. I have one picture that may be him. His father was Jacob ORR and his mother was Nancy King. Jacob's father was Will ORR, who died in Stokes County, NC in 1819. I also need info on Will's parents. I would like to hear from any descendants of Richard ORR. Would appreciate your help. Joyce C. FOX / THURMAN - I am researching my ggrandfather, James Carroll THURMAN (aka Carroll THURMAN) born 16 May 1852, died 27 October 1907. He was married to Margaret Katherine FOX, born 15 March 1854, died 4 August 1905. They had 15 children of which George Walter (the oldest., my grandfather). I know that George's brother Arthur came to Kansas along with his sister Estelle. I have a letter from "Hattie May", one of George's sisters. The other brothers and sisters were Luther C., Victor Longo, Mattie(Marjorie), William E., James P., Charles C., John Herbert, Cyrus L., Roy Lester, Pearl and Leroy L., but not much more about them. THURMAN - I am looking for William THURMAN (Thoroughman etc) born 1745-1750. Thomas THURMAN born 1755, and Samuel THURMAN born 1767. Sister Priscilla THURMAN born l763. William had child born VA. Possibly married a Dickerson. Thomas and Samuel married Crawford sisters. Seeking info on family and parents. There are variations on the spelling of the name. TAYLOR - My Grandfather, James Herbert TAYLOR was born in Cocke County in 1895. His father was John TAYLOR. They lived on a 200-acre farm located along the Pigeon River on Dark Hollow. I am trying to find the names of John TAYLOR's father and mother. We are also trying to trace the transfer of land from John TAYLOR back and forward to establish the original tract of property and where it was located and who it was purchased from..
