Timothy Welch Stinnet was told by his Uncle Charlie that Allen's mother was Katie Waddell. Some information he got from Charline McGaha also gives her name as Nancy Catherine Waddel but she didn't remember who gave the information to her. The Death Certificate gives it as Katie Waters. The informant was Ben McGaha who may have been one of Allen's sons.

Allen McGaha's gravestone in Johnson Cemetery, which is legible, states: Allen J. McGaha 1846-1937. The year of birth conflicts with the date on the Death Certificate.
