The McCown Family contributed by Mary R. Rury, in SMHS NL, Winter 1986, Vol XII, No. 4, page 102. A history article on Early Settlers mentions 'George McCown's son, John P. McCown, who was born in 1815 on the present Runyan farm one mile south of Sevierville'. [R.M.
