Charles Timson opened the first overseas branch of William Cooper & Nephews at Galveston Texas in 1890. He introduced Power Sheep Shearing Machines to U.S.A. In 1903 he gained ownership of the Sunbeam Corporation for the Cooper family. Sunbeam was then known as Chicago Flexible Shaft Company. He moved to Chicago, Illinois in 1900. He returned to England in 1912 to become General Manager of the parent company. He effected amalgamation with McDougall and Robertson and this changed the parent company name to Cooper McDougall & Robertson.
