Notes

Serving the Union Army during the Civil War, Archibald Maples enlisted 22 September 1862 at Sevierville, Tennessee in Company I, 2nd Tennessee Cavalry. He contracted 'chronic diarrhea' in the line of duty at Murfreesboro, Tennessee. He 'was discharged on the 23rd day of March 1863 by reason of disability.' He 'died in Sevier County, Tennessee after discharge of desease contracted in the line of duty in the Army on 21st day of December 1863.'

Buried in Red Bank Cemetery.
