McNulty McMahan and his first wife moved to Bird's Creek, Sevier County, Tennessee near Richardson's Cove, where they resided for a while, then they moved to Richardson's Cove, where they lived and died.
McNulty McMahan was a farmer and blacksmith. When a comparatively young man he was kicked by a horse while placing a shoe, and was 'ruptured'. From this injury he sufferd as long as he lived and was never able to do hard work of any kind.
One Sunday morning he walked down to the barn and when he failed to come to the house for some time, his wife went to look for him and found him paralyzed. He said, 'Help me to the house.' He remained concious but was never able to speak again. He died a few days later.
Buried in Richardson Cove Cemetery.
SMHS lists death date as 31 March 1894.
