Notes

In 1620 John Macomber was a mercer with his shop located on South Street, Bridport, still the main north-south street in town. His stock-in-trade seems to have been mixed, including both cloth and food stuffs. An entry in the court book of the clerk of the court for 1620 reveals that John was found to have used a deficient 1/2 pound weight in his shop.

John Macomber is buried in St. Mary's Church.
