Daniel Rufus Ownbey is buried in 'The Old Field's Cemetery' near Bat Cave, Rutherford, North Carolina. His first wife, Saphronia, is also buried there but his second wife, Anty, preferred being buried by her infant son in Stone Mountain churchyard cemetery, Buncombe County, North Carolina.
