Notes

Probable son of Archibald Sloan.

On 14 August 1805 John Sloan, Alexander Sloan, William Sloan, James Boyed, Andrew Jackson, David Brown, Carolinus Sloan, Robert Sloan, James Sloan and David Sloan, all of Blount County, as 'Legatees of the Estate of Archibald Sloan', disposed of property in Blount County, Tennessee, including a 200 acre tract of Nine Mile Creek granted to Archibald by the State of North Carolina.

William lived and died on Six Mile Creek and was a member of Baker's Creek Church.

The will of William Slone, written 12 August 1832, probated 24 June 1833, directed that his 'parishable property' be sold, but his dwelling to remain in the possession of his wife her lifetime. Since 'it hath pleased God to lay his chastning hand on my daughter Sally ... should it be her fortune to remain in this helpless condition,' she to have the 'support of the tract of land I now live on'; if restored to health, sons Alexander and Robert to pay her $75 in trade, including a horse and bridle. On the death of the widow the land to be divided between Alexander and Robert; in case of 'any difficulty with the boundary where my daughter Nancy now lives ... my son Archy is to mark the line.' Archebald is to have all interest and right in my survey in the Western District; he to pay his mother $80 one year after the testator's death. All other property at the death of the widow to be divided between three daughters, Nancy Campbell, Peggy Campbell and Sally Slone. Executors: Archabald and Robert Slone. Witnesses: Alexander Cook, William McTeer. On 24 June 1833 Arch Sloan was appointed Executor of the Estate of William Sloan deceased; bond was for $1000 with Robert Sloan and William McTeer as sureties.
