Nancy was brought by father to Jefferson County when two or three years old. Listed in the 1830 through 1850 Federal Census of Jefferson County, Missouri.

Another source lists Nancy as daughter of John (b. ca 1775 in South Carolina and Elizabeth (ca 1780 South Carolina) Williams of South Carolina. This same source says Elizabeth's grandmother was born in Kentucky.
