Notes

Serving the Union Army during the Civil War, James Madison Maples enlisted 22 September 1862 at Sevierville, Tennessee in Company I, 2nd Tennessee Cavalry. He was discharged 6 July 1865 at Nashville, Tennessee. His personal description at that time was 5' 8' in height, fair complexion, auburn hair.

Buried in the Glades Lebanon Baptist Church Cemetery.

SMHS lists birth as 1 March 1836.
