Notes

Joseph Daniel Reagan was converted and joined the Methodist Episcopal Church, South. He became an exorter when 18 years of age.

In 1852 he emigrated to Missouri. He was married to his wife by Davie Coulter, pastor of New Bloomfield Prebysterian Church in Calloway County, Missouri.

He was ordained as a minister in the Methodist Episcopal Church, South at Jefferson City, Missouri in 1867, having been appointed pastor of Lebanon Circuit. Two years later he resided at Stoutland, where he remained except a short residence in Richland until his death.

He was a man of good literary atainment, being a forceful and eloquent public speaker, a vigorous and fluent prose writer, a successful teacher, and a poet of considerable ability.

'The funeral was held at the Baptist Church in Stoutland, Missouri, by Elder J. M. Hibbs, of the Baptist Church, on Saturday, January 24th, 1891, in the presence of most of the family and a large congregation of sympathizing friends and acquaintances. The remains were interred Saturday evening in the Stoutland Cemetery.'
