Notes

Revolutionary War record found in Newberry Library Mass records of soldiers and sailors Vol X_III Boston 1905 in the M's. Second Coporal and served directly under Lafayette.

Statement dated Boston Sept 11, 1777. Signed by said Macumber and others belonging to Col Crafts regt. declaring their refusal to leave Boston unless their bounty, or wages, or both, were made equivalent to those allowed the soldiers of the continental train of artillery. Also, Matross, Capt. William Todds 6th Co. Col Thomas Crafts (Artillery) regt. service from time of enlistment to October 1, 1777, 4 months 15 days.

John is known to have served a longer time. Record might be found in Taunton, Providence, or Washington.

John coaxed his young brother (16) into the Revolution. The boy was killed in the first battle. The father was so mad, he only willed him $1.00. He bought a bible with the dollar. '(We know that John Macumber married Polly Dean of Rhode Island, they got Dean money anyway)'

Said to have been made deaf in the war. Lived in Taunton, Oakham, Massachusetts, and Westford, Vermont.

United with the Congregational Church in Westford, Vermont in 1821.
